Trust & transparency
Privacy policy
Nothing you type into a calculator ever leaves your browser. This page explains what the site collects today, what advertising and analytics would add if turned on, and the choices you have in either case.
The short version
Every calculation runs client-side in your browser; your inputs are never sent anywhere. The site currently sets no advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes — for example if the site starts showing ads through Google AdSense, or adds privacy-respecting analytics — this page is updated first, a consent banner asks for permission where the law requires it, and you can decline and still use every calculator.
Information we don't collect
Nothing you enter into a calculator — your pet's weight, a medication dose, a breeding date, a lab measurement — is sent to a server, logged, or stored anywhere. There is no backend behind the calculators and no database of user inputs. Closing the tab clears everything.
Information collected automatically
Like any website, Biology Calculator's hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs when a page is requested: IP address, requested URL, browser/user-agent string, and timestamp. These are standard web-server records, used only for operating and securing the site, and are governed by the host's own retention schedule rather than anything this site adds on top.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a site can ask your browser to store, typically to remember a preference or recognize you on a later visit. As of today this site does not set any cookies. If it adds any, they fall into one of these categories:
- Necessary — required for the site to function (for example, remembering that you already answered the cookie prompt). These don't require consent under most laws, but are listed here for completeness.
- Analytics — would help us see in aggregate which calculators get used, so we know what to maintain and improve. Would not identify you individually.
- Advertising — used by ad networks such as Google AdSense to show ads and measure their performance, and in some cases to personalize which ads you see based on your browsing elsewhere. Covered in detail in the next section.
Where consent is legally required, a banner lets you accept all, accept only necessary cookies, or decline — and every calculator keeps working regardless of your choice.
Advertising & Google AdSense
This site displays advertisements served by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to Biology Calculator or other websites on the internet.
Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites across the internet.
Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising by visiting AboutAds.info (US) or Your Online Choices (EU). You can also control, block, or delete cookies directly through your browser's security settings.
For details on how Google uses data when you access partner websites, please see How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps.
Analytics
No analytics tool is active today. If one is added, it will be named here along with what it measures (typically: which pages are visited and in what volume) and what it does not measure (anything you type into a calculator). Where required, it will run only after you've consented via the cookie banner.
Affiliate links
No affiliate links are currently running. If any are added, each one is labelled where it appears on the page it's used, and the arrangement is disclosed on the About page as well as here.
Third-party links
Calculator and guide pages cite published sources and link out to them. Following an external link takes you to that site, which has its own privacy practices we don't control. These links open in the same tab and carry no tracking parameters added by us.
Children's privacy
Biology Calculator is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, contact us at the address below and it will be removed.
Your rights and choices
Because the site doesn't collect personal data today, there's nothing to request, correct, or delete. If analytics or advertising are added, the data they collect may be considered personal information under some laws, and you'd have the following rights regardless of where you live:
- EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR/UK GDPR): the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your data, and to object to processing, including profiling for advertising. Contact us to exercise any of these.
- California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know what's collected, to request deletion, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (which can include ad-cookie-based targeting). If advertising cookies are active, a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" control will be available from this page.
- Everywhere: you can decline non-necessary cookies in the consent banner, and control cookies directly through your browser at any time.
This site does not currently respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals, because there is no tracking to turn off; this will be revisited if that changes.
Data retention and security
Because calculator inputs are never transmitted or stored, there's nothing to retain or secure on that front. Server logs are retained only as long as the hosting provider's own policy specifies. If analytics or advertising data is added in future, retention periods for that data will be stated here.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version is published on this page with a revised date below. Material changes — such as turning on advertising or analytics for the first time — are reflected here before they take effect.
